WHY
DO ARAB COUNTRIES FAIL?
I found this material from early 2014, probably from around April, that I
scribbled onto a notebook, after having typed it on a little phone a month or
two before. This does not resemble the original, but it was in my salad days,
long before the true suffering.

Because
of
THE
ARAB WAY OF LIFE
The
man is the family.
The
man’s wife and children are his property.
The
man – the family – lives in a community.
The
community has its own social laws
–
rigid laws –
which
is enforced by others’ beady eyes
and
terrified everyone.
And
on everyone else is conveyed to everyone else an image
–
a façade – a mirage –
of
what goodness and evil means to everyone in the community.
Conformity
to the social law keeps the image spotless.
Breaking
a tiny delicate law blots the whole image.
And
no quicker and no wider and no finer blot
Than
a man’s daughter losing her virginity!

GIRLS GIRLS
Men
love to look at and admire stranger girls
But
enrage when a daughter, a sister, a wife is especially feminine.
NOT
YOUR GIRL!
A
man who slept with a stranger girl
Get
praised.
A
man whose daughter slept with a stranger boy
Gets
shamed.
THE
ARAB WAY
Hate
the kin
Love
the stranger
Silence
the opinion of kin
Submit
to the opinion of absolute strangers.
