Nubian vs. Arab

The Arab is easily recognized by his smile. When he smiles, he lifts only the corners of his mouth, which is seen against the backdrop of his hooked nose. And his eyes squint reflexively, like a predator viewing its prey. Even mixed Arabs smile in this manner.

The Nubian's smile is distinctly African: larger eyes by raised eyelids, an overall raised mouth with the corners never reaching the level of the nasal bridge, and with most of the teeth showing. This is completely opposite to the Arab's smile.

During an awkward situation, the Nubian smiles in shared embarrassment, while the Arab is plain-faced and sullen in contempt.

The Arab smiles in ridicule and contempt, the Nubian expresses contempt by just raising the middle of his mouth and nothing else. The Arab feels contempt for someone who is not as quick-witted as them, or is generally honest, or is virtuous for virtue's sake. The Nubian feels contempt for cowardice, insolence and desertion of duty.

Should someone not understand something in the presence of a Nubian, the Nubian will explain it to not more than twice, and then suspect the questioner as either a foreigner or just a dunce. The Arab in contrast will see it as an opportunity to pull a joke on the confused questioner anyhow.

The Arab is angered when he is not treated in accordance with his whims; the Nubian is angered by outright insolence or disobedience done to him. The Arab's anger is neurotic, dreadful and disgusting; the Nubian's rage is loud, disciplined and terrifying. The Arab is very easily moved to anger; the Nubian is patient but only for a while.

The first example is Semitic; the second, black African.
