October 21, 1964
The Glorious October Revolution
A popular and well-organized revolt overthrows Abboud’s military regime, and a transitional council rules until the 1965 elections. A glorious people’s revolution talked about and celebrated to this day.

Worst day in Sudanese history:
June 30, 1989
“The National Salvation Revolution”
A military coup staged by military nobodies and orchestrated by Islamists, overthrows the failed Third Republic. Sudan becomes hell on earth.
